New Italian ''AICS'' IFV renders from the latest RID magazine

Image
Although the Italian army had previously expressed their interest in the German-made Lynx IFV made by Rhienmentall, Italy has decided to delay any sort of acquisition to allow for a homegrown solution to be made. The current Italian army IFV, known as the VCC-80 Dardo is set to be put out of service in the near future, so this new requirement is of vital importance and must be met. Leonardo SpA has gotten Iveco DV alongside OTO Melara to create a series of renders for the new AICS IFV which were revealed to the Italian army earlier in February of this year. From the new renders, we can see the completely new hull design made by Iveco DV, which seems to be considerably bigger than the current Dardo design. In these early renders, it is seen mounted with 2 different types of weapon systems. The first is the 30mm Hitfist plus, currently in service on the Freccia IFV in the 25mm version, and the second armament is the Hitfact MK2, the same exact turret and armament that is fitted on the B2

Tracked dual-link transport carriers by OJSC Machine-Building Company "Vityaz"

Image
Background The OJSC Machine-Building Company "Vityaz" finalized the 1st building phase of its assembly plant in 1988. The proposed idea was to establish several facilities for the development and assembly of DT two-section tracked carriers part of the "Vityaz" vehicle family.  In 1982, the plant launched the DT-10P into serial production. Four years later in 1986, the plant introduced the DT-30P.  Due to the configuration of the chassis and caterpillar system, the vehicle had exceptional cross-country capabilities, allowing it to traverse different terrains such as swamps, deep snow, mud and many other poor condition areas. During the modernization of the tank, several new protection choices have been chosen. The UFP and LFP have been covered with ERA, new side skirt ERA blocks. Slat armour mounted on the sides and rear of the turret, additionally, the engine-transmission segment has been covered with slat armour.  After modernization, the overall protection against shaped-charge ammunition increased to about    600mm-650mm in the frontal arc of the vehicle on both the hull and turret.  Slat armour had a 60% chance of stopping RPG warheads, while the ERA had a 90% chance of countering shaped-charge ammunition.   Taken from: Armoured Vehicles XXI Century Encyclopedia  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Discord   ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
