Proposed T-62MV protection package

During the modernization of the tank, several new protection choices have been chosen. The UFP and LFP have been covered with ERA, new side skirt ERA blocks. Slat armour mounted on the sides and rear of the turret, additionally, the engine-transmission segment has been covered with slat armour.

After modernization, the overall protection against shaped-charge ammunition increased to about    600mm-650mm in the frontal arc of the vehicle on both the hull and turret.

Slat armour had a 60% chance of stopping RPG warheads, while the ERA had a 90% chance of countering shaped-charge ammunition.
