The Russian Army will begin receiving the new Gibka-S short-range anti-aircraft systems within 2022

The system was designed and is intended to protect Battalion level units, supplies and facilities. Each Gibka-S system consists of four ready-to-fire Igla-S or Verba missiles.

The Igla missile can intercept targets at distances of up to 5.2 kilometres and altitudes up to 3.35 kilometres while incorporating an infrared dual-frequency guidance system. The newer Verba achieves better performance and can intercept targets at distances of up to 6.5 km and altitudes up to 4.6 km. It incorporates a three-channel target searcher (ultraviolet and infrared, low and medium frequency).
