Kurganmashzavod delivers final batch of BMP-3 Infantry Fighting Vehicles
The Kurganmashzavod of Rostec's High-Precision Complexes holding delivered the final batch of BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles under a two-year contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The new vehicles will replenish the mobile park of all military districts of Russia.
At the moment, the company continues development, aimed at strengthening the tactical and technical characteristics of these machines. In particular, Kurganmashzavod specialists are working to increase survivability on the battlefield, including the installation of ERA on the BMP-3.
"Kurganmashzavod is contracted for several years. In addition to serial deliveries and maintenance of well-known types of equipment, we are working on improving the tactical and technical characteristics of our products, developing new combat vehicles and dual-use vehicles taking into account modern requirements. In 2022, Kurganmashzavod plans to begin production of the Sprut-SDM1 light amphibious tank for airborne troops. In the first quarter of this year, state tests of this unique combat vehicle will be completed," said Bekhan Ozdoev, Industrial director of the Rostec arms group.
Kurganmashzavod continues to implement the State Armament Program until 2027, according to which the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation will be supplied with third-generation infantry fighting vehicles BMP-3, armoured recovery vehicles BRAM-L, amphibious vehicles BMD–4M and BTR-MDM.
