Modernized BRM-3 with a remote-controlled combat module

Back in 2015, the concept of replacing manned turrets on IFVs with remote-controlled combat modules was only a prototype concept, made using the BMP-3. To this day, 'Kurganmashzavod' and 'VNII Signal' have continued to work on streamlining the controls and the overall operability of this remote-controlled combat module.

From a first glance, the vehicle looks like it's using the BRM-3 hull and a modernized 'Bakhcha-U' turret module. When comparing the standard 'Bakhcha-U' turret with this vehicle's turret variant, it is noticeable that the old sight systems were replaced. The centrally mounted sight is a commander's panoramic thermal sight, which was previously installed on the T-72B3 Obr.2014. The standard gunner's sight was also replaced with the PPNK commander's panoramic sight and is paired with the main gun.

It is worth noting, that the turret lacks crew hatches, meaning access to the internal modules is only possible through special service hatches, or through the rear hull hatches, that were initially designed for troops.

It's quite an interesting design choice overall, what is still unclear is how one operator can control all the internal mechanisms of the vehicle. As mentioned earlier, the vehicle has 2 sights, which send a lot of information to the operator. While in theory 1 person operating the vehicle has access to all the onboard information, this could cause blind spots, where there is too much information and the operator does not pay attention to a specific system/module.

It's unknown whether or not the vehicle will become a mainstream upgrade package for BMP-3 IFVs.
