The "Udar" robot module will learn to fight on autopilot

The Russian robotic complex "Udar" will be able to autonomously move around the battlefield, as well as interact with drones.
Bekkhan Ozdoev, industrial director of the weapons complex of the State Corporation Rostec, told TASS about it.
The current prototype of the Udar robotic complex was created by the Signal VNII JSC, which is part of Rostec as part of High-Precision Complexes.
"When developing the "Udar", the specialists of the enterprise tested the possibility of the robot's movement in autonomous mode. For this, the complex includes a motion planning subsystem based on sensors and meters. Based on the data obtained, the robot's movement route is formed, taking into account the terrain and tasks", - said Ozdoev.

The press service of High-Precision Complexes noted that when creating combat robotics, VNII Signal uses a single principle of robotization, which involves equipping existing models of military equipment with a set of equipment. "The Udar robot, for example, was created on the basis of the BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle. The robotization of the fighting compartments is also carried out according to the same principle - at the moment, six different fighting compartments, which were installed on the vehicle, are robotic," the holding informed.

In addition, according to a Rostec spokesman, "Udar" can interact with unmanned aerial vehicles. "Interaction with drones has been worked out, including a tethered type powered by the robot itself. Such drones can be used for additional reconnaissance and relaying the radio control channel," Ozdoev added.

The complex was tested in interaction with light robots designed for reconnaissance, undermining targets, transporting goods and evacuating the wounded. "The lightweight robot is installed on or in the aft part of the "Udar" robot and has a mechanism for simplified automatic undocking from the carrier before starting the task," - Signal VNII informed.
The "Udar" robotic complex based on the BMP-3 was first presented at the Innovation Day of the Russian Defense Ministry in 2015.
