The tank division of the Central Military District will receive updated BMP-2, "Shturm-S" and "Sobolyatniki-O"

In 2021, more than 20 units of modern weapons and special military equipment will be received by units of the Guards Tank Division of the Central Military District, stationed in the Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk regions.

According to the press service of the Central Military District, deliveries will be completed by the end of the year.

In 2021, a batch of 10 modernized BMP-2M infantry fighting vehicles will enter service with the motorized rifle units of the largest tank formation in the Central Military District. Unlike the models of earlier modifications, the BMP-2M has an automatic fire control system that allows the commander and gunner to act as a single unit in the daytime and at night.

The anti-tank divisions of the division will be armed with more than 10 Shturm-S self-propelled combat vehicles capable of destroying armoured vehicles, including those equipped with dynamic protection, as well as air targets and structures in all weather conditions.

This year, the armament fleet of the armoured reconnaissance units will be supplemented by the Sobolyatnik-O detection systems designed to monitor the situation at a distance of up to 30 kilometres, which allows analyzing target parameters with an accuracy of 10 meters and classifying them, dividing them into people and equipment.

The Guards Vitebsk-Novgorod twice Red Banner tank division of the Central Military District was formed on December 1, 2016. It includes 3 tank, motorized rifle and self-propelled artillery regiments, an anti-aircraft missile battalion, a reconnaissance and engineer battalion, units and subunits of combat, logistical and technical support.
