SPG "Лотос" - "Lotos" Testing

The Central Scientific Research Institute of Precision Engineering (TsNIITOCHMASH) of the Rostec State Corporation has completed acceptance tests of the 120-mm self-propelled artillery piece "Lotos", Index 2S42.

- The combat vehicle has accomplished the specified tactical and technical characteristics, "Rostec".

The testing phase, including 57 testing points, made it possible to evaluate the performance of all internal components, mechanisms and instruments of the weapon system. During the tests "Lotus" covered 400 km and fired 14 shots.

The military representation at TsNIITOCHMASH signed an official document on the compliance of the prototype of the SPG with working design documentation and readiness for preliminary tests. 

SPG "Lotos" has a mass of no more than 18 tons, maximum speed - 70 km / h, engine power - 450 hp, cruising range - not less than 500 km. The combat crew consists of four people. The firing range is up to 13 km. 

"Lotos" uses the BMD-4M chassis, is equipped with a new combat module that houses a 120mm gun with a high degree of automation and preparation for firing operations.

This post expands on a previously covered topic, being the BMP-3 with ERA . Potentially sealing this topic until later when more information comes to light.  ERA package components:  ERA containers filled with 4S24 ERA elements, containers are mounted on the front and both sides of the hull. Slat armour mounted on the rear of the vehicle protects the engine compartment. Overall package performance:  Protection against AT rocket-propelled grenades (RPG) PG-7V, PG-7VS, PG-7VL, PG-7VM, PG-9S and other types of grenades capable of penetrating up to 600mm RHA within a 180 ° fire arc.  In areas covered by ERA containers, the probability of protection is at least 80%.  In areas covered by slat armour, the probability of protection is at least 50%.
