TMT-K mine trawl

The TMT-K engineering tank minesweeper was designed by 'Stankomash' and is intended for reconnaissance, making a passage in anti-tank minefields and continuous demining of the terrain.

A TMT-K can be mounted on a large variety of AFVs: T-72, T-80, T-90, BMR-3M armoured mine clearance vehicles and vehicles based on the BRM-3 chassis.

This trawl consists of a roller array with pressure action and soil cutters, a device for trawling anti-side mines and an electromagnetic module. The trawl also includes electrical equipment, a pneumatic system, a pyro signal cassette and a single spare parts kit.

The TMT-K mine trawl provides trawling capabilities against most anti-tank mines: anti-burr mines, anti-bottom mines with contact and non-contact magnetic fuses, anti-slide mines with non-contact seismic-optical fuses, as well as the destruction of wired control lines for mine explosions, land mines and triggering remote installation mines installed on the ground surface.

The mine trawl provides emergency uncoupling of the trawling equipment, the transfer of the cutter-grubbers from the marching position to the working position and the designation of a passage line in the minefield, without requiring the crew to leave the vehicle.

In the 1980s, the Soviet Union determined that the widespread use of thermal imaging devices for reconnaissance majorly outperformed the maximum detection ranges of devices based on electro-optical image converters. GTD-1000 - GTD-1000TF - GTD-1250 Gas Turbine Engines

The world's first mass-produced tank gas turbine engine GTD-1000T was created at the Klimov Plant in 1968 for the T-80 main battle tank developed By the special tank design Bureau of the Kirov plant (now JSC "Spetsmash"), which was adopted by the Soviet Army in 1976. "AGAVA" - "AGAVA-2" and its confusing history

When covering Soviet sight technology there are always some interesting designs and approaches to solving an issue. It is a common fact that the Soviet Union in the 1980s-1990s was quite behind in thermal sight technology. Only in the 1990s, but to be specific in 1992, the Soviet Union now Russia started to field small batches of thermal sights on their tanks, those primarily being T-80Us and some of the early T-90 variants, which just recently at that time entered service. Russia's journey through creating its own domestic thermal sight traces back to 1982.  The 1980s were quite an important time for the 'Krasnogorsk Factory named after S.A Zverev', which is still to date an Optical Engineering and Optoelectronics factory.
