"Technodinamika" will demonstrate new armor-piercing sub-caliber shells at IDEX 2021

"Technodinamika" Holding (the management company of JSC " NPK "Techmash" of Rostec State Corporation) at the international defence exhibition IDEX 2021 will present for the first time new tank shots - 125-mm round 3VBM23 ("Lead-2") and an experimental sample of a 125-mm round with an armour-piercing sub-calibre projectile of increased power ("Mango-M"). This was reported by the press service of "Technodinamika".

"The ammunition is intended for firing at tanks equipped, among other things, with dynamic protection, self-propelled artillery installations and other armoured targets. They can be used for firing 125 mm smoothbore D-81 tank guns. The specialists of JSC "IMI named after V. V. Bakhirev" managed to significantly improve the tactical and technical characteristics of the products. In particular, the armour penetration of these round increased by more than 20% compared to standard samples. In contrast to the 3BBM17 round ("Mango"), which penetrates 230 mm of a homogeneous armour (at an angle of 60 degrees from the normal at a distance of 2 thousand meters), the experimental sample "Mango-M" has a value of 280 mm, and the round of 3VBM23 - 300 mm" the report says.

Mango-M is an export-oriented round. One of the main advantages, which is worth noting, is the absence of the need to make changes to the design of the automatic loading of the T-72 and T-90 tanks. This can play a key role in the choice of this munition by foreign partners, which are armed with Russian-made tanks.

In addition, for the first time, a 57-mm 53-UOR-281U round with a fragmentation-tracer projectile will be presented. The round is intended for shooting at air targets, as well as unarmored equipment, personnel located outside the shelter, open firing points, light structures, and sea targets. The round is applicable to a new interspecific system of 57-mm weapons, based on the placement of a unified combat module on land chassis for various purposes and on Navy ships, developed by the Central Research Institute "Burevestnik" (part of the corporation "Uralvagonzavod" of the State Corporation Rostec).

Also, for the first time, a 120-mm 3VOF119 round with a high-explosive high-explosive projectile produced by JSC "Plastics Plant "will be demonstrated. The product is intended for the destruction of open and hidden manpower, unarmored and lightly armoured vehicles, the destruction of defensive structures. The uniqueness of this munition lies in the highly effective, combined equipment of thermobaric action, combining high temperature, pressure and fragmentation action.
