Expansion of Russian Ground Forces

 

More than 800 units of modern tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and armoured personnel carriers will enter the units of the Ground Forces.


By the end of this year, more than 800 units of armoured vehicles are planned to be delivered to the formations and military units of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. As part of the execution of the state defence order, enterprises of the military-industrial complex will transfer to the Russian Defense Ministry modern and modernized samples of armoured vehicles that have successfully proven themselves in operation in various climatic zones.

The troops will receive more than 90 modern T-72B3, T-72B3M tanks, about 80 T-80BVM units, with a gas turbine power plant, a batch of T-90M "Breakthrough" tanks, some of which will be transferred by the manufacturer to the Kazan Higher Tank Command School for training future tank officers.


In addition, more than 120 BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles, more than 280 upgraded BMP-2s with the Berezhok combat compartment, as well as about 300 BTR-82A and BTR-82AM armoured personnel carriers will be delivered to the formations and military units.
