T-90 with a promising sight returns at Army-2021

  During the JSC Rosoboronexport live stream on YouTube which was showcasing the T-90MS to potential buyers (26th August 2021) at the Army-2021 event in Patriot Park, the T-90MS was shown in closeup video. The tank featured a new gunner's multichannel sight, which was also shown at Army-2019 on a different T-90MS in this post . PNM-T sight The tank is fitted with the PNM-T domestic sight with new gunner's and commander's control panels, replacing the old Thales manufactured ones. The sight in this instance is green under the beige protective cover, meaning it is a newly produced one compared to the older beige sight on the T-90MS at Army-2019, that had time to be painted in the tank's colours. This brings the confirmed number of tanks which house this sight up to at least 3. Soviet remote-controlled heavy MG platforms

ZU-219 on T-80 front view   From 1st of February to 1st of September 1973, Kubinka trial grounds tested several MBTs and medium tanks equipped with commander MGs. These being:  Manually controlled heavy MGs designed by UVZ design bureau: (ZU-72) on T-72 and (ZTPU-2) on T-55. Remoted-controlled heavy MGs designed by the Leningrad Kirov Plant (ZU-219) on Object 219 and Omsk Factory No.174 (ZU-62) on T-55A. Manually controlled systems were generally preferred due to their simple design and ability to mount them without obscuring observation through viewports. While being cheap in production, such systems brought over several issues. Lack of crew protection when in use, crew compartment depressurisation when used in territories with a radioactive background and difficulty in using the manual traverse mechanism.  After trials, the ZU-62 had the probability of being accepted as a mounting solution for T-62 and T-55 tanks and their modifications. New T-72B-"3M" analysis

New footage shows a new T-72B3 "M" vehicle fielding non-standard equipment. The vehicle features all the new integrations that were fielded by UVZ in the last several months. T-90M style front mudguards, additional ERA protection around the gun mantlet and commanders cupola, steel tubes used for mounting additional protection against loitering munitions and RPGs. Posts covering these changes:  T-72B3M and T-90M changes , New T-72B3M modernization batch .  The vehicle received additional ERA protection on the lower frontal plate and new ERA containers mounted along the entire side of the tank.   Additionally, the vehicle is missing several standardized features that would be seen on other T-72B3M tanks.  The standard Sosna-U multi-channel thermal sight has been replaced by the 1PN-96MT-02.
